Cat SÖderberg Esper

Catherine Söderberg Esper is an architectural designer and researcher with a passion for sustainable design and innovative materials. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute, and a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University.

After completing her studies, Cat ventured to Singapore, where she joined the Singapore Center for 3D Printing at NTU. Here, she collaborated with material scientists and mechanical engineers to develop sustainable materials and design modular structures. Her work at NTU allowed her to delve deep into the world of materials science and push the boundaries of traditional architectural practices.

In 2018, Cat moved to El Paso, Texas, where she joined the architecture faculty at Texas Tech. Her continued interest in materials encouraged her to establish Matter Matters, a research and architectural design lab focused on exploring the potential of waste and natural materials in construction.

At Matter Matters, Cat is at the forefront of innovation in sustainable architecture, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field. She continues to inspire others to think outside the box and embrace the potential of transforming waste into sustainable products for architectural design applications.
