Matter Matters is a materials research and architectural design lab addressing the urgency of the global crisis by innovating with waste and building with natural materials. The lab harvests raw goods from industrial, domestic and landfill-bound waste streams- fostering a recycling ecosystem scaling a range of micro and macro scales. The inherent qualities of these collected artifacts are celebrated and repurposed into new, performative and conscious material objects for the future of architecture design and construction. This disruptive revolution is in response to a critical and urgent predicament of our planet’s finite resources extracted by the developing and modern world. Our mission, as a team of designers, architects, activists and scientists, is to be agents of global change- to innovate and to ultimately emerge collectively as a more sustainable, human race- addressing social and ecological reform and rebalancing our relationship with the environment, our planet and all who call it home.
